It really works. I was quite amazed by this solution of my frustration.
In fact I would not have taken the trouble of installing SuSE 10.2 on
another partition, if I knew it earlier. Now my Cannon Lide 20 is again
back to action. Thanks.
Cool! You/we might also send a snail mail letter to Canon directly. A
fellow over on another newsgroup has a CanoScan 8600F that he can't get
working in Ubuntu so he wrote a letter to Canon USA. He got a phone call
back from the Assistant to the President for Corporate Customer
Relations. The APCCR "suggested that letters like mine are looked at
more seriously than they had been in the past and he encourages letter
be written accordingly."
He wrote to:

I wonder if scanbuttond will help the CanoScan 8600F problem.
