anyways, i can connect and see the shares, but i cant access them.
it asks for a user name and password. As i said before, this network
isnt really secured and doesnt have any password security.

not even logons for the machines?

no this is a simple home network (peer to peer).

How do i get around this?

enter your windows creds?

and as i said, there are no credentials. no passwords, no sort of
security in that way, just a simple peer to peer network. On the other
windows computers, you just click on the name of the computer and you
can access the shares no problem.

Just a wild guess: try "administrator" for the user name and leave the
password empty.

well it looks like were going to take down that mccaffee junk as it blew
up on us.

i believe were replacing it with avast! antivirus (i dont know what were
going to do about firewalls).

Im thinking the administrator (my dad) may have put a password up for
the shared files and never told me.

anyways, thanks for the help, and feel free to make suggestions based on
other antivirus/firewalls that you know are good
