Exactly, and, if you intend on using a whole disk, there is no real need
in adding partitions at all. Just create the filesystem on the root
block device like /dev/hdb instead /dev/hdb1 ... 2 ... 3
Avoiding a partition table wil save a few blocks and will save
boundaries limitations affecting partition start and end.
