Gutsy un-hibernate plus ctrl+alt+bksp = reboot ?

I did a fresh install of Ubuntu Gutsy last week. I never had much luck with previouse versions and the Hibernate to disk function.
This time it seems to work quite well, and it even un-hibernates.
But after I login, the X is quite strange leaving artifacts and now showing the contents of every window.
So I decided to restart/kill X with ctrl+alt+bksp.
Instead of the espected GDM restart I was presented with a system reboot.
Does anyone else experiences this?
