Just putting together a 1.5TB system to hold all my goodies and
thought it would be nice to be able to do TV on it also. Are there
any TV card that work without effort under Ubuntu Linux, and where
should I be really looking? The graphics card is an nvdidia, if
that
helps.
The question is if you mean DVB-T (terrestrial) or DVB-S
(satellite). If
you mean DVB-T and an external USB 2.0 device is acceptable, I can
recommend the Terratec Cinergy T². It works out of the box.
Yah i mean T. I'd prefer an internal card. But this USB one sounds
hopeful what program do you use to watch TV?
I use Kaffeine - didn't try anything else yet.
Does it have a remote control?
Yes it has. Now that you asked, I briefly tried if the remote control
worked with Kaffeine. Only the buttons for audio + / - / mute and the
number buttons had an effect. However I don't know if that is caused by
the kernel driver or by Kaffeine. And the number buttons seem to be very
sensitive - i.e. when pressed for a normal amount of time, it is like
pressed several times.
Here are some links about the device:

Furthermore, there are several standards for digital TV (I didn't think of
that earlier today). The Cinergy T² is for DVB-T, which is used in many
countries worldwide, but not in the USA and a few other countries. See:
