Ubuntu-Windows network

I can see, copy and move shared windows files to Ubuntu, but Ubunto shared files don't show up in Windows network. Ubuntu computer shows up in Windows network as one more of the computer group, but it can't be accessed. A user name and password is required, but nothing I write there seems to fit. Anybody could solve this mistery?
I bet somebody could...!
