tracker search tool

I have trackerd running, and according to the config file it is
tracking my home directory, and I know that it has done an indexing run
at least once.

When I start the tracker search tool and enter *any* word or filename,
it responds with "Your search returned no results".

Is there some action I need to take in order to make this work? The
search tool itself doesn't seem to have any menu options.
