Gutsy: failed during upgrade

Hi,

During upgrade of my Ubuntu 7.04 with Gutsy alternate cd, my HD failed.
(My HD turn off and on sometimes, I think this is because a problem with my
power source...)

The system freeze and I had to restart.
After the boot, the X server don't load.
I logged and fixed all broken packages.

Now the system is running, gnome is 2.2, Ubuntu is 7.10.... but run very
slow...
When I click some icon, the system take time to respond...

Do you think I can fix it or is better to proceed a clean install?
