After a while I discovered it seems to be a problem of knetworkmanager.
If I
keep it down, then the dhcp on the ethernet card works fine, and the
address
given is stable (i.e., it does not change). Anyone else experiencing this
problem? Any idea about how to solve it?

I had the same issue.
Manually editing dhclient.conf to prepend the required setting sorted it
for me.

That shouldn't help - he's getting dhcp _without_ network-manager, but not
_with_ it. If he needs to modify the dhcp config to get there, then he
should never get a dhcp-assigned IP.
