Sorry, I missed that detail, though I do see that it was in your
original post. Sorry.

I pulled the HD until the Windoz Install CD did boot and put it back just after
that. IDE is not hot plug. So, the BIOS did not recognize the HD :-(
Later, I will backup the data (image) and format that HD and then we see what
happens. But I am pretty sure that then the Windoz Live CD will boot, because
then it is the same situation as I have now. A new, empty HD!

Let us know if the format helps, but I doubt that it would. Since you
mention that other bootable CDROMs boot the problem is specific to a
particular CDROM in conjunction with a particular hard drive. That is
interesting.


Today, I copied the data from my former HD to the new one I just bought last
weekend.
Now, this "old" HD is ready to some tests.

I did do nothing to this HD since I posted last week to this ML.
Today I copied the data I needed and stared to play with the "old" HD.
Just put it back in my Laptop and tried to boot the Windoz install CD again, no
luck!
I booted with the Ubuntu live CD and it booted fine!
Then I killed all all partitions with fdisk (in Ubuntu) and rebooted with the
Winowz install CD.

And it booted ...

At the moment it's still formating (Windowz install routine?).
