Hello everyboy I just installed TB on my wife's notebook and have
2 questions:

1) TB under her Win XPP shows the detailed info of account
contents in digits ! How do I get this in Ubuntu's TB ?

Click the little > on the message bar.

Unfortunately I do not get it ! With both the lille < > in the
message bar I get the pane displayed differently only ! NO # of the
accounts contents of read or non-read message.

I'd have to boot into windows to see the difference - perhaps you can
post a screen shot(s) somewhere? But perhaps you mean the status? If so,
enable the status bar: View|Toolbars|Status Bar

Bottom right corner should show Unread: x Total: x

To add columns to show in the Message list pane, click on the little
hatch box just to the right of the Subject/Sender/Date etc. You can then
select what else to add or remove.

You can try:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/258

Or you can experiment (make a backup! & be sure to close TB when doing
this) with prefs.js and modify
user_pref("mail.accountmanager.accounts", "account1,account2");

Just downloaded it and also lightning and both are on Desktop.
How do I get them installed ?

From the page:

How to Install in Thunderbird

1. Right-click the link below and choose "Save Link As..." to
download and save the file to your hard disk.
2. In Mozilla Thunderbird, open Add-ons from the Tools menu.
3. Click the Install button, and locate/select the file you
downloaded and click "OK".

Does that not work for you?
