Hello there,

I have Mailman set up with Exim and followed the instructions in the
server
documentation. Everything seems to work except for two things:

1. When I send the confirmation message back once Mailman has sent me the
confirmation to join the list I do not get a response.

Firstly, is the Mailman runner running, and I take it you've read the
docs telling you you need to create the site-list, usually, 'Mailman'.

exim -bt listname@xxxxxxxxxxx ?

Yes Adam I have read the docs telling me to create the site list. I did so.

You may have welcome messages switched off, too.

I just checked that they are on.

2. I cannot send any messages and I don't see my messages returning.

Are you a member of the list?

Yes I am a member of the list.

3. I looked in the /etc/aliases and it looks like my list I just added
was
not added to the aliases file. Here are what I have for a few of my
files:
Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

Depends on the config as to if you need to have (etc-)aliases(5)
entries, but the "Mailman ... Configuration For Exim" (and the
'mmailman_transport Starts Here' & 'Mailman Router Begins Here'
lines should be commented out.

Is Mailman running as mailman:mailman, or list:list?

I am not really sure how to check that one out. I am assuming it's running
as mailman but not totally sure. How do you find out?

I dunno if the Pkg-Exim4 config messes around too much with the
Mailman/Exim interaction: I don't bother with what, to me, is a
travesty of packaging, and use a hand-crafted exim4.conf,
and sometimes, a self-compiled version of exim...

Yeah I am using the packaging. I haven't tried yet to build Exim on it's
own as I am just getting started with it. I haven't played with the MTA's
too much on any Linux distro.
