Netbeans IDE does not load..

Hi all,

I noticed that NetBeans 5.5.1 IDE does not go beyond the splash screen with
desktop effects running.
I had to go to System>Preferences>Appearance>Visual Effects and change it
from 'Custom' to 'None'. Only after that did the IDE screen appear..
Is that the way it's supposed to work?Cos I am finding it increasingly
difficult to sit before a computer with no eye candy.. :)
