hello
Thankyou , thankyou so much for the info. i will now definitely get the
ubuntu 7 series. that fact is that i am gettnig ubuntu installed to work
with gumstix. will 7.1 be good enough. i seriously dont have a clue about
this.
i also have another silly doubt, can i install the ubuntu on an external
hard disk, as theres not much free space on my windows disks. theres a C
disk and in the gnome partition editor it was shown with an yellow asterix
and as fat 32. my D disk has only 7 gb of free space. in this situation
would i use an external hard disk with usb 2.0 ?
thnx in advance
donny

hi,
first question, why did you download and install 6.06, when the latest
version released is 7.1?
~ it went on well and

| it said i had no permission and asked me if i am root. i am not very

cant use su on ubuntu. use sudo then the command you want after it like
" sudo apt-get install" or sudo -s for a root prompt. the root password
is what you typed in for root password when you installed ubuntu. thats
why it says when it asks you for the password during installation "make
sure you remember this password"
|
| or else have can i ensure a smooth installation of ubuntu without
| affecting my windows. would be there any tutorials where i can get by
| step guidance.
|
| kindly help
|
| thnx for any info
