Hello all
My .fetchmail .procmail and .gnus files all are set up correctly as I can
recieve all my mail. However sending mail fails with an authentification error:

I'm not *really* sure on this... but shouldn't the file be ~/.fetchmailrc ?

sorry thats a typo in my email, the file is correctly named.

Furthermore, 550 Authentication Required shows something went wrong
with the authentication... not sure, but maybe this can be of use:

Thanks, I will read that
If you're not sure if your ISPs mail server runs POP3 or IMAP, just
use "AUTO" in the .procmailrc file - something like this:

poll isp.mail.server with proto AUTO

actually I should not have even mentioned procmail as all I use it for
is to feed spam software, fetchmail gets my email and plaes it in my
spool for my MUA to read. I just need an ubuntu specific guide for
configuring exim with smtp auth or find another MTA that is simpler to
set up :-)
