i used the winmd5sum tool and generated the value and pasted the ubuntu hash
function frmo the internet and compared them and then it returned that the
values were different

That is not good at all.

Could you show what is the command you are using and what is the output
you get and what you expect? This is just to know that something is
really going wrong. And with this info, someone may confidently say if
all actually is well or not.
