What does your PS have to do with the first statement? You have several
legacy applications that use the soundcard (statement in PS), and legacy
apps continue to work (first statement). I can see no problem here?
FWIW, OSS apps always occupied the soundcard and didn't let other
applications play, this is exactly one of the things that were wrong
with legacy linux audio
