Thanks for that. I have found a javaws executable in the installed Java
6 directories. Now what?

In Firefox I can (via Edit -> Preferences -> Content -> File types ->
Manage) get to a dialog that looks sort of like what I need, except that
the Remove button is greyed out. Also, there is no entry for jnlp at all
- but I know that Webstart for java 5 is working. And there are no
entries for dozens of file types that know my Firefox install can
handle.

A bit stumped.
