I have previously reloaded Windows NT I have had to download software for the EHD from the Seagate / Maxtor tech support site. This site makes no referecne ot reqyiuirmeents for linux etc.
I have a Maxtor One touch III Mini ehd.
Any help would be great. Keep it simple - im new to U.

assume it's a USB or firewire drive? If so, have you just tried to plug
it in?
-Corey
install software from Maxtor to get it to work. Ubuntu does support
USB. So you should be able to just plug it in and it should show up on
your desktop or through "Places" in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
Cheers,

Has the drive been formatted yet?
To see if the drive has been detected at all, open a terminal window
(Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal), plug in the drive, and type
"dmesg" (without quotes) in the terminal window. If the drive is being
detected, you should see some lines indicating that a new USB device has
been attached.
