Karl, please cut down on the rudeness or might start commenting your
posts ;)

Mike says you can't uninstall, but just uninstall?

Who is Mike? Whom are you talking to?

I would like to get rid of Evolution because I have used Thunderbird
for many years and like it.

Nobody prevents you from either simply using Thunderbird instead of
Evolution, or uninstalling evolution, as explained at least three times
in this thread. I get the feeling the mails must have been lost or
something, so here is one link to the solution in the archive:
https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/ubuntu-users/2008-April/143943.html

But in the Wisdom? of the Ubuntu and Red Hat package designers, they
think Evolution is the best. I wounder where they have been living?

What do the RedHat package designers have to do with anything???

In the future I hope that both Evolution and Thunderbird will be
available for d/l and you can choose what you want.

Still looking like the previous emails have been lost. I hope so. Please
read above link, you can uninstall Evo (and install Thunderbird, of
course).

I believe Ubuntu has a policy of "one application per task in the
default install", which is a very sensible choice and, if you read the
reviews, one of the things people like most about Ubuntu. I don't think
burdening the users with such a question is not a good idea. Users can
simply uninstall/install what they need from menu Applications >
Add/Remove (a solution that should have been mentioned earlier in the
thread)
