how to catalog my files

I want to make a data base or file that has a list of all files ( or a
subsection of all files) and their location. This info should be
sortable by filename or date or size etc.
What I want to know is how many duplicates I have across 3 computers.
2 windows XP and this Ubuntu one.
I am new to Linux and Ubuntu but back in CPM days ( 1982) I had such a
system and now would like it in Ubuntu.
Does this exist?
