Thanks much for the reply, NoOp, I was about to repost
complaining that I had 3 posts this month that had no
replies. Can always count on you. I'll read the link
to find out more. Maybe it will tell me why ubuntu
has a kernel package on its mirrors that you can boot
and what you might use it for.

Just installed vmlinux-debug-2.6.22-14-generic andran
update-grub which didn't find or add it tomenu/lst.
May have something to do with same kernel versionas
mentioned the menu.lst but how do I get it to bootany
without adding it manually. It is listed in boot
along with the regular generic kernel. Appreciate
suggestions,
