Unable to open 'cdda://scd0/Track%201.wav' is the error I get when I try to
play a CD I made on this very computer. I can not get any program to play,
VLC plays the audio disc I just made from brasero (original flac
sources also decompressed automatically). I have always had issues
with mplayer and vlc when trying the cdda: method for playing. But if
i run vlc, select Audio CD and tell it to play it that way, it works.
I have experimented with the manual page on mplayer and I can't manage
to get the device to open if I use the cdda: option. For instance:
dfox@newbox:~$ mplayer cdda://1/dev/scd0

Playing cdda://1/dev/scd0.
Can't open CDDA device.
Failed to open cdda://1/dev/scd0.
Oddly enough, 'man vlc' doesn't even mention cdda methods.
