I cant type "dead keys"

Did you set your keyboard variant correctly? Try to go to menu System ->
Preferences -> Keyboard. Go to tab "Layout" and click "Add" to add a new
layout. Choose "Brazil" as layout and "eliminate dead keys" as variant.
Test and save if it works. Then choose your new layout in the keyboard
preferences window and set as default. You can delete the other if you
like.
