I have compiled a kernel some months ago due to a misconfiguration in
the ACER Bios. Well this is working perfectly now. It is : 2.6.24.3.
Now I have warnings about new kernel 2.6.22.15 via Update Manager. If
I update, will it remove my old kernel (2.6.24.3) ? How can I manage
this problem, knowing that I want to keep 2.6.24.3 and if possible, do
not be alerted by new kernel software.
The updater leaves old kernel images in place, but creates a new kernel
image plus the related /lib/modules/<version> directory tree. I think
it sets the new kernel as the default at boot, but you can select your
old kernel manually or change the grub menu.lst to use your kernel by
default.
