Hi Johnny,
many files could be placed in a few different folders and I don't want any
copies of anything except for backup). Of course there is a lot of ways I
could solve this afterwards, like writing a script that searches for all
those files and removes the first part of their names, but it would really
be the most convenient thing to not having that stuff added to the name in
the first place.
I am not a Nautilus expert as I do not use it, so no help there, but
mass-renaming is simple. There are many gui apps out there that are able to
do it, but I usually use this in a shell. For you something like this should
do the trick:
$ rename 's/Link\ to\ //' *.xxx
Better than writing a script, but hopefully there is a Nautilus option...
Look up man rename.
