Why are all the instructions for software

use apt-get rather than aptitude?

Probably ingrained habit :)

aptitude is obviously better in most cases, although the fact that it
removes all packages in a metapackage when used as a removal tool is
not always what I want - so I think apt-get still has its uses,
although I know that aptitude can generally be made to behave in
whatever manner is preferred.
