It seems somehow the add/remove programs disappeared, and also the synaptic
package manager. I tried installing the package as if it was missing, but
it came out like this
admin@laptop:~$ sudo apt-get install synaptic
[sudo] password for admin:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
synaptic is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
If there is any help to how to fix this problem. Thanks.
Synaptic isn't in the Applications menu but in the system menu. Try
System --> Administration --> Synaptic Package Manager
Also you can check to see if they've been unchecked in the menu's via
System --> Preferences --> Main Menu
When in here highlight the line reading Applications on the left and look to
the bottom on the right. Does Add/Remove have a tick next to it? If not
re-tick it. If synsptic is not showing in the system menu you can follow
through on the left through System and then Administration and look on the
right to see if it is ticked and re-tick if not
