In Writer, you can right click on the ruler at the top and the side of
the document and select metric units. Does that help?
Thanks for that! I'd forgotten all about that option.
verwertungsprozess can also easily set the locale in OOo:
Tools|Options|Language Settings|Languages|Locale setting.
