Where is the trash folder really stored? I'd like to go there in a
shell as root and whack these folders once and for all.

Nevermind. I figured it out. The drive was an NTFS drive I use for
storing music loop samples/one shots. I had to go to the drive and
open the local trash. Then I had to go to superuser in a shell and do
an rm -R {filenames}* the "files" folder and an rm-R *trashinfo in the
"info" folder. There may have been an easier and cleaners way to do
it, but that did the trick.
