Well I tried sudo gedit /etc/X11 and it still takes 3 Tabs to get
the list. But it does work. Glad the latest vim takes no Tabs.

Oh dear, this is not good. I just did that and got an error message stating
that X11 was a directory. The only choice was to Cancel. However, the File >
Open (or Open button) still gives a GUI window to get to the file. Tabs only
give system beeps.
Now I have to figure what was downloaded with vim that was common to gedit.
Thanks for the heads-up.
