Is the LSI 1068 RAID controller supported

Does the LSI 1068 RAID controller (e.g. as found in the ASUS ASUS
TS700-E4/RX8) work with Ubuntu?
I see that it works with certain kernel versions. As long as it works
with any/most kernel versions, and source is available, I can feel
comfortable.
Unfortunately I can find minimal information.
I fear I will be in a position where my RAID controller requires
kernel X and my graphics controller requires kernel Y. Therefore I
will not purchase the system until I can verify that at least the RAID
controller - the most critical piece - is well-supported.
Otherwise I need to find another Socket 771 system with a RAID
controller that Linux supports.
Thanks for any help.
After verifying the RAID controller I will need to find a
well-supported video card.
