I'd like to revert back to the way the "Expose" mode worked initialy in
Compiz - that is all opened applications (from different desktop) will
show on one desktop, scaled and in a mosaic view.

System → Preferences → Advanced Desktop Effects Settings
(install package compizconfig-settings-manager if unavailable).
There you can assign the key shortcut to Scale instead of Expo.
