Booting Ubuntu 6.06 CD on Dell T5400

I have tried to boot from the Ubuntu 6.06 CD on my new Dell T5400
desktop. The boot hangs at "Mounting filesystem...". I have done this
successfully with a Dell490, which is very similar. Has anyone else
encountered this problem and does anyone know the solution? I am
limited to Ubuntu 6.06 because of a driver for a specific frame grabber
that I need to use.
