NVIDIA GeForce 6100 and Intrepid

For some reason, When I got on Intrepid I tried
System-Admin-Hardware-Drivers and it told me to d/l number 177. I said
do it and it did! It worked just fine. Earlier this did not work and
must have been a problem with the source.
It said to reboot so I did and it came back up with a black screen
with a bright boarder across the top. I backed out with Ctl-Alt-F1 and
now Intrepid is not usable. I can change /etc/X11/xorg.conf if necessary.
