Hello,

I've added a connection to my web site ftp server in File Browser, but
it's not working right. I selected "ftp with login" as type of connection.

For some reason it will not show any folders. All I get is the top level
folder which contains only a small text file which is a note from my
hosting service about enabling Frontpage extensions.

I'm being hosted on a Windows server, is this the problem?

I'd really like to try out this method of access to my site, but if it's
not possible it no big deal as I have a good ftp program which connects
to the site no problem.

Hi Ray,

You may need to add a directory to the URL of the FTP server. I've seen
that before with some servers, your default ftp directory is empty, but
if you type in the name of the directory you are supposed to be in, it
figures it out and sends you to the right place

I tried that in the first place, and File Browser told me ther was no
such directory. I know there it's there 'though.

Any other ideas?

I am using konqueror (web browser).

Open Konqueror and reduce its size - then press "ctrl+d" and you have
two similar windows.

Then open your ftp site (e.g. ftp://ws34.somesite.com/yoursitename.org)
in one of the windows (you will be asked for a username and password),
and you can now copy/move/del/ files/dir etc. between the two windows
just as if you are working on your local harddisk only.

Works for me.

You can even use nautilus file browser . use "ctrl+n" instead of "ctrl
+d"
