You should enable the google apt repos. This page will instruct you on
how to accomplish that. Also note that although there is only
"stable" listed on this page, that there is also a "testing" repo...

Trying to install recent Google Earth from their website. I'm running

When I try to run GE for the applications menu, the initial image starts
up for a sec and disappears.
My guess is that I'm not the first person to run into this. I'll take a
look tommorow about fixing this, but would appreciate direction on where
to look, what to do etc.
