On my SuSE server, I use an NFS server to export a dozen folders for use by

I haven't found any equivalent on the Ubuntu systems I've been experimenting
As usuall there are weird naming conventions with anything debian, try
'apt-get install nfs-common'
then add to /etc/fstab your mount points and then 'mount -t nfs -a'
