Hey Matt, Sorry for being so vague. Nothing had happened, error, screens
etc. Turns out I had a bad batch of CD's. I was able to finally install the
program and thus far everything looks good. I've got a lot to learn!!! This
seems much more detailed than MS home server. Being new to the home server
world, this should be interesting.
Thanks for your help everyone!! I'm sure I'll be here often. lol
Bob

Hello,
You are not providing very much information for us to use in answering
your questions, however, here is what I think.
go here to download the .iso image:
http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download-server
at a terminal type
md5sum nameofthecdimage.iso
it will give you a hash that you can compare to this list to see if the
image was downloaded completely and without data loss or corruption:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuHashes#9.04
if the hashes match then use K3B to burn a cd .iso image. select the
image you downloaded and have it verify the written data. When the burn
process is finished leave the disk in the machine and type this:
sudo md5sum /dev/cdrom
it should give you a hash to compare again. it should be the same hash
if the cd was burned properly.
Now, you know that you have a good disk, try the install on the server
again, and then let us know how it goes.
Here is a data base of Ubuntu Howtos for you to use. Just type in your
key words and click the search button.
