What else have you tried?

I've had good success under other platforms of unplugging it from the
USB socket and plugging it into another one. Is this keyboard USB or
PS/2?

will try the unplug/replug next time it happens but it is a PS/2 plug
not USB, this is a fairly old early ergo keyboard without all the
special keys and a good old klickty klick action.
