If you can borrow another router for a test, do that. I never had much
luck with longevity on a Linksys however, and six months was my longest
on the second one. First one failed in four. Both were WRT54GL
routers and both failed in the manner you described.
When they failed, was it permanent? Mine worked on two separate
occasions. Unfortunately, I know of no-one with a router I can try. What
router did you settle on? Does it have upgradeable firmware?
Yes, they would come back for a few minutes after unplugging and re-plugging
for a few days sometimes but got progressively worse til finally wouldn't
come back at all. I have an Actiontec PK 5000 now and yes the firmware is
upgradeable. It is a modem, router and wifi point all in one unit.
