oh yes can boot up from live CD into xwindow but don't have
permissions to delete any files or empty trash. can't get to root
either.

past couple days my 1tb hdd starts filling up. no idea where from.

and now can't boot x can only get into a terminal. will go to login
page, accepts user name and password but goes in circles and comes
back to login page.
in terminal type "Startx" and it tries to start but comes back to term
prompt. am logged onto internet in terminal and pine (alpine)
ls, doesn't tell me anything.
rm won't remove any files.
????? have I gotten a new linux virus or something??
