Roughly one year ago I opened a bug report at Skype:

A couple of weeks ago I received a comment made by another user with
the same problem. In all this time no one at Skype bothered to answer.
So I would not expect much of Skype team regarding Linux or a problem
like yours.

Nevertheless I think you should open a bug report.

I think that 9.04 is a bad version, I have lots of problems, which worked in
erlier versions, but it happens not so seldom, that items that works well do
not work in newer versions of ubuntu, I have observed? - i find it quite a
problem for me at least.
