filesystems on USB hard drives?



Are USB hard drives as flexible with regard to partitioning and
filesystems as internal drives? (I mean, can you partition them any
way you want and use any GNU/Linux-compatible filesystems, including
luks?) I expect the answer is yes, but I'm just curious before I buy
one.
