Since Karmic, I can't help but go Alternate. Desktop CD partition
editor will find only one of my two disks.

Nevertheless, there's always a way out if you take some precautions,
like fresh install instead of upgrade. VirtualBox (still) cannot
handle USBs in Lucid. Upgrade from a nice working system and you are
lost.
