I think it would be dd if=<path to iso> of=/dev/<letter of flash
drive>
But, better yet would be to boot up Ubuntu on the desktop with the
LiveCD, and und system, Administration(I think), You'll find the live
USB creator, which is much easier to use.
You might also want to mess with the BIOS of the netbook to change the
boot order.
