wordpress use .htaccess files? Not sure.
The links I sent you were for setting up the required php. It also
works with mysql. Maybe you'd rather use the workhorse, but then again
lighty is exactly what you asked for witholding that silly apache
requirement. Nginx even.
Good luck with optimising the beast that is Apache.
