Whoa! Just checked the links. This is cool... I'm gonna have to do my
homework on this one. I think a lot of people just assume apache is
the way to go.
I do use a lot of web applications. Or would like to have the option.
If lighthttpd will work with them then I might switch. Again, gotta do
my hemework.

wordpress use .htaccess files? Not sure.
The links I sent you were for setting up the required php. It also
works with mysql. Maybe you'd rather use the workhorse, but then again
lighty is exactly what you asked for witholding that silly apache
requirement. Nginx even.
Good luck with optimising the beast that is Apache.
