find a used video card that with work with multiple linux programs ,I
would like it plug and play. Tight budget. I have a old emachine t3104.
I've tried three so fare with little success, still freezes.
Can you describe what you're doing or what program you're running when it
freezes? Is the freezing random, or can you reproduce?
I was freezing only video. Theb processor and audio was running. But
at my laptop was the optimus tech the problem.
What technology are you referring too?
But the guys behind nouveau are smart and they resolv many problems.
Maybe, but if you have a TRUE nVidia card and/or chipset it would be like putting square wheels on my moped to make it roll. It would basically work, and it would go forward, but not in the way the original engineer designed it.
"While the drivers include a significant amount of functionality and probably work on the common Linux games shipped with distributions, there are still some serious issues and they are not too optimized for performance. OpenGL applications that work at first may crash sooner or later. Some applications may crash X itself or hang the GPU. You should be prepared to face issues, and be able to recover from them yourself.'
Yup, this is what we should recommend to other users. Ric
