12.04 Upgrade Frozen

I started the upgrade process a few hours ago and noticed that the upgrade process is frozen while downloading Dropbox. The terminal window displays:
Downloading Dropbox... 46%

There is no dialog prompt and as far as I can tell there is no way to abort the download and skip this single item. Any suggestions or is this installation of Ubuntu now doomed?
